The Opportunity
Junior Technical Engineer – a graduate keen to develop skills and knowledge in ‘all things Life Racing’. Coached by an experienced Lead, it is expected that the successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, innovation and make a difference. An enquiring mind with a desire to push boundaries and enhance current ways of working to deliver commercial benefit. A commitment to ongoing learning is vital.
Role outline:
- Understanding project requirements and completing all duties assigned by the Lead.
- Shadowing team members, asking questions, and assisting wherever possible.
- Raising concerns and making suggestions for improvement where appropriate.
- Conducting research and travelling to sites as required.
- Participating in meetings and attending workshops and other training initiatives.
- Analysing data and writing reports according to specifications and requirements.
- Establishing professional relationships with staff.
- Maintaining a high degree of professionalism and diligence.
Key Skills / Experience
- Degree educated - Engineering discipline required.
- Previous experience in a technical field would be an advantage.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- A valid driver’s licence may be required.
- Essential - good working knowledge of Microsoft packages

Hours of work & Benefits
Standard full-time working week, 40 hours. When based at Life Racing’s Essex facility, standard office hours are between 8am to 5pm with flexibility to suite personal requirements. Based at the office is preferable owing to interaction with the wider team; hybrid working also optional.
To meet the needs of the role and fast paced nature of the business, the successful candidate will require a flexible approach to working hours.

PC & Infrastructure Engineer

The Opportunity
The main purpose of the PC and infrastructure Engineer is to manage the PC’s, servers & Infrastructure systems hosted in Basildon. Taking ownership of support calls, documenting, automating and working with the existing software development team. All tasks need to ensure that they are completed in a timely and professional manner. Establishing a good working relationship with the software development team and providing good, ratified advice will be key to your success. You will have a hands-on role managing the complete environment including the office365 tenancy with the software developers. Demonstrating a clear ITIL framework understanding to deliver great service to the internal customers.
Role outline:
- Manage the combined AER / LR infrastructure working on existing technologies VMware, Synology storage, Microsoft Servers & Office365, WAN, LAN and VPN technologies, Linux Ubuntu, Meraki, Java & JBoss EFACS and knowledge of MS SQL all are technologies hosted in Basildon.
- Working with technical subjects at a detailed level whilst being able to plan, estimate, review, implement and report on allocated project and major tasks.
- The role will require aspects of architecture, implementation, support, and operational management
- Monitor, implement and support PC’s both onsite and remote mainly but also willing to get your hands dirty and to ensure continuity of operations for test equipment connected to PC’s and appliances.
Prior Experience:
- At least three years’ experience of working with VMware & Virtual machines, Synology Appliances, Cisco Meraki and OpenVPN, Ubiquiti and Windows Server 2012 R2 and 2019.
- Proven expert experience of using Operating Systems – in Microsoft Servers and AD is mandatory
- Proven experience and knowledge of Firewalls, Endpoint protection and virus prevention.
- Proven experience of using Applications – Java & JBoss, MSSQL, Active Directory
- Proven experience of storage platform Synology with knowledge of NFS and SMB connections
- Cloud based technologies like Office365, SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive Knowledge and experience of intrusion protection and prevention technologies.
- Ensuring that security products are up to date and that all precautions are in place to protect the organization and its IT assets and employees

Test Assembly Technician

The Opportunity
Test/Assembly Technician – a standard level manufacturing position. The successful candidate is expected to support production by assembling, building, testing, and repairing electronics. Demonstrating initiative, attention to detail and good productivity whilst taking care and attention with fragile, sensitive items. A commitment to ‘getting things done’ with a positive attitude, working as part of a small, hardworking team. Adaptable and flexible to the task in hand is very important.
Role outline:
- Day to day surface mount assembly work
- The removal and fitting of small SMD/BGA devices
- Test and repair PCB’s to component level
- Using Oscilloscopes, multimeters, scopes, and similar tools to interrogate PCB’s
- Fault finding
- SMT Soldering
- Supporting the production schedule to meet requirements when needed:
- Soldering connectors to boards
- Preparing ECU’s ready for sale -packing in boxes with silicon sealant
- Packaging and shipping
- Understanding task requirements and completing as assigned.
- Asking questions and assisting wherever possible.

The Opportunity:
Life Racing is a growing business that requires additional support to fulfil order requirements and meet customer expectations and timeframes. The production team is seeking an assistant to help with everyday basic tasks that are extremely important to keep the operation moving efficiently. The candidate will be hard working, satisfied with carrying out the tasks required whilst demonstrating an interest to learn. This is an entry/standard level role and a fantastic opportunity to learn, develop and gain new skills.
Role outline:
- Ability to follow parts lists and make ‘kits’ accordingly.
- Masking and de-masking of product cases to prepare for anodising or put in to stock.
- General upkeep of working areas, maintaining organisation of kitted parts.
- Local deliveries/collection of parts.
- Assisting other employees with day-to-day business - tasks as and when required.
